Employability

The School Governor Role

Link Governors for Employability

Governors for Schools and the City of London Corporation are calling on the city’s governors to play a greater role in ensuring our young people have access to excellent careers insight and employer engagement.

“Link Governors for Employability” work with their schools to implement an effective work-related learning strategy, harness existing resources and opportunities, and open up bespoke opportunities within their own professional networks.

We have produced a resource pack and programme of support to enable you to adopt this role and help drive improvements in employability provision within your school.

Collectively and individually, governors bring a range of skills and knowledge that help the pupils in our schools. The creation of Link Governors for employability will boost the understanding of schools both of local business needs and future employment trends. It will also provide useful contacts which can help to bridge the gap between educational institutions and the business community which can be harnessed to create opportunities for students in those areas of demand.
